Online Card Class: Day 1 and 2

Hi Guys!!
So I decided after much debate to take the Copic markers for Card Makers class by Onlinecardclasses.com.....and man am I glad I did!  The first two days have been so much fun and I've learned something new both days....even though I'm not a total beginner at copics! lol

Day 1 was basic blending skills with 2 and 3 colors of markers.
It was nice to see 3 different people color the same images in a totally different way. I definately picked up techniques from them all!

Here was our practice sheet for homework...

Today was day 2 and it got a little more intense!  Todays lesson was on different types of blending techniques. Below, I used the tip to tip and flicking techniques to blend colors that were not meant to be blended.

I also took the plunge and colored the birds as well...these are images that I normally don't color just because it's not my style....but it was so fun to step out of the box!!!  I'm glad I tried it! I'll be revisiting it soon!

1st Birthday Layout: Using Take10 Kits!

Happy Sunday!

It's a beautiful early morning and I'm here to share with you a layout using cards from the Take10 September kit!  This is an 11x12 layout of my second son's first birthday!  The only card that didn't come from their kit was the "You Color my world" card, however I used the stencil from their August kit to create it! Here are some close ups!!!!...

...and here is a close up of the card that I made, while I was making it!  If you'd like to see the process that I took to make this card, please check out my other blog post here.

I have a very quick process video of this layout....its only a little over 4 min long, since I didn't realize that my camera cut off at the very end! But, here it is!  ENJOY!

Take 10 Layout!

It's finally Friday!
I'm so excited the work week is finally over!  I hope that I can get caught up on some much needed
crafting therapy this weekend!

Today I have a 12x12 layout using the July, August and September Take 10 Kits.
I wanted to use all the bright and colorful cards in this layout, but I fumbled a lot with the title card, until I pulled out all 3 stamp sets from those kits and just forced myself to use them along with many of the other embellishments i had left over.  Now I have to say that it's probably my most favorite title card I've ever done!  Here are some close up photos....and be sure to stay to the end for a process video!

I just absolutely love the card above!!!..."You Get what you get and you don't throw a fit." My kids grew hay bail gardens this year and my oldests grew beautifully!  My youngest on the other hand wanted watermelon...which really doesn't grow in our climate. So, my dad went out and bought one, one with an actual stem, brought it home and put it in his plan so he thought he grew it! They have no idea now, but when they get older, this is going to be very funny! :P

Winter Card Series Begins! #1 and #2

The weekend is finally here!

Today I thought I'd start my weekend off with my 2014 Winter and Christmas Card Series.
I wanted to challenge my self for this specific project and see if I could take one 4x6 pock album card and transform it into a greeting card.  Well, I can call this a success because not only did I get one card out of it, but I got a second one as well!

Here are close up photos of the cards I created using the 4x6 card from Septembers Take 10 Kit!
If you are interested in seeing how I created these cards, I have a video up on my YouTube channel. The link for that is below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

You Color My World Project Life Card

STENCIL TUTORIAL

Today I have a quick tutorial for you!
I have been loving everything stencils lately and I just can't seem to get enough of them!
Today's project, I'm using the following supplies, which includes grid cards from Becky Higgins, a stencil from the Take 10 August Kit and 5 colors of distress inks.

First, I taped my 4x6 grid card down to my craft sheet and then placed the stencil centered on top of it
and taped it down as well.  I squished my inks down onto my craft sheet ad mixed the color with very little modeling paste.  A little goes a long way!

I then spread the color over specific sections of the stencil, only using every other section
on the stencil itself.  I repeated this for all the colors I wanted to use and come out with this
once the stencil was removed.....

I then wanted to add some text to my card...I wanted to be able to use this as a title card.
I found these in my stash that were the perfect height and dimension.

I spaced the phrase "You COLOR my world" out over the four blank areas
that were left as "voids" from the stencil.

Last, but not least, I felt that it needed a little more black to tie the words all together.
I pulled out my Project Life journaling pens is sizes 01 and 05, for different thicknesses, and
drew a border around the entire card 3 times.

And here is my final project!

My biggest suggestion and recommendation is to make sure you have a lot of
paper towels and baby wipes on hand to keep your area clean so the colors don't
transfer from one to another!

I hope you enjoyed today's tutorial!
See you next time!

HAPPY THURSDAY!

If you've been following me for the last few days, you are well aware that I have been bragging about this months awesome kit from The Studio 29 Designs!  Since yesterday was the full reveal of the Take 10 Kit, I'm super excited that I finally get to share some projects using this months kit!!!

My first project is a layout...of course lol...that is of photos of my oldest son near the last few days of Pre Kindergarten....which was 3 years ago already! It's hard to believe how fast time goes! My youngest son, Jordan, just started Pre Kindergarten this year so that's what inspired me to finish these photos before I printed his! lol

Here are some close ups of the photos of my finished layout.  I used the apple 4x6 and the education 3x4 cards from the kit along with the flair badge, stamp set and sequins.
