Hello Shimmerz fans!
I'm so excited to share with you the project I have created!  Today's project is an art journal page featuring the fantastic sprays and the new AcriTonez paints!

I began with prepping my pages with clear gesso and spraying the background with Ruby spritz, Peachy Keen Coloringz, Sunset Strip Vibez, Quit Yer Wine-n Vibez and Walkin' a tight Heliotrop Spritz. The gesso allowed for easier movement of the sprays when they were spritzed with water.  Red, peach and yellow blend beautifully together, however when you introduce purple, you have to be careful not to blend it with the yellow or you'll create a muddy brown color...so be sure to keep a paper towel beside you to absorb puddles of those colors.  Here is a close up of the background:

I stamped layers of text in coordinating colors and used dimensional paste colored with the above sprays to add more texture in the background. I then went in with the AcriTonez and painted green stems.  While this was all drying, I went to my stash and found a 6x6 paper pad with coordinating colors and drew very sketchy petals with a black sharpie. I fussy cut those petals out and glued them down, added wood/enamel adhesive centers and rub on leaves. The smaller flowers in the background were made using dabs of the AcriTonez paints and white gesso.  I finished the page off by adding my title and a thin black border around the page.  Here are close ups of the final page:

Do What You Love | Shimmerz Paints & Hip Kit Club

Hello scrappy friends!

Today I have a fun layout for you using beautiful pastel Shimmerz Paints and the January Hip Kit Club main kit!  Today's project was inspired by the honey comb paper from the One Canoe Two collection and the beautiful floral Hip Kit exclusive papers!

To begin my layout, I of course had to break out my Shimmerz Creameez and jazz up the white background. I used a combination of the packaging technique and I also used my brush to apply and move the color around. Here is a close up of the paints I used and the background before I added my layers:

I loved the soft colors in the honeycomb paper and I cut a section of it out on a diagonal. The floral paper exclusive this month is beautiful! I fussy cut a few of the flowers out and used them as embellishments. The title for this layout "do what you <3" is a beautiful wood veneer that was a HKC exclusive. I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. To finish the layout, I added more of the beautiful butterfly rub-ons and I added my journaling.  Here are some close ups of the finished layout:

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Until next time, stay colorful <3!

Hello Dreamy | Hip Kit Club

Hello scrappy friends!

Today I have a layout with products from the January Hip Kit main kit! This kit had beautiful papers and ephemera from the Pink Paislee Moonstruck collection. When I first received my kit, I knew I wanted to use this paper as a background and pair it with the "dreamy" and water colored hearts die cuts. That adorable "hello" wood veneer in my title was a Hip Kit Club exclusive this month and I gave it an ombre color with my Shimmerz mists.   And the photo....this is my amazing husband....I'm so proud of him for all of his accomplishments in the fire service and this picture captures him at that moment when he is taking it all in. He is truly my hero!!  Here are close ups of the layout:

Many Faces Layout | Shimmerz Paints and Hip Kit Club

 Hello Friends!

Today I wanted to share with you one of my most favorite layouts that I probably have ever made. This was one that simply came together so easily and quickly and the end result was just as I had imagined....and being a crafter, I'm sure you understand that it's rare for that to happen! lol!!

I was inspired by the watercolor feathers that came in my January Hip Kit Club main kit. They are beautiful!  I used those as the inspiration for my background. I found coordinating Shimmerz Paints and did the packaging technique to mimic what the feathers looked like.  Here is a close up of the background and the feathers with the Shimmerz colors I used:

Once the background was completely dry, I began layering my pieces. I wanted the photo strip and the feathers as my main focus on this layout and the background to compliment the color in the feathers.  Once I had those pieces down, I used the beautiful butterfly rub on's in the kit in matching colors on the background.  To finish the layout, I used the gold Thickers for my title.
Here are some close ups of my final page:

"Truly Forever" Mixed Media Layout | Shimmerz Paints

Hello friends!

Today, I have a fun way to use up all of those extra Thickers we have laying around!
How frustrating is it to try and make titles with the "left over" letters from our Thicker packs?! And  when we run out of vowels?!  Oye!  Well, when I was flipping thru my packs, an idea came to me on how to use up those "x" 's on a colorful layout!  Why don't I take all of my left over "x" Thickers and arrange them in an "O" shape for an "XOXO" theme layout, get inky with my Shimmerz paints and finish it off with a Valentines collection to show off one of my favorite pictures of my hubby and I!!!

I'm going to show you a couple preliminary photos, but here is what the finished layout looks like:

Once I gathered all of my Thickers, I pulled out a sheet of watercolor paper, two sheets of plain white printer paper, gesso and an old brush. I cut out a large "O" from the two sheets of printer paper and adhered it to the watercolor paper.  I'm using this as a guide on where I want to put my "X" 's.  (I highly suggest using watercolor paper on this project because of the amount of weight, gesso and paint that will go on to this page.)  Once that was glued into place, I began randomly placing all 84 "X" 's from 24 Thicker packs onto the page.  Wow! Never thought I would use all of those, but yes, I did! I didn't even cover the entire "O" shape because I knew that was the space where I wanted my photo to go.  Once those were all in place, I covered them with two layers of gesso...one, because there were tons of random colors that I didn't want to show thru...plus some were cork, foam and chipboard...and two, I wanted them to be primed for my Shimmerz paints to adhere to!

Here are two close ups of the first and second coats of gesso...you'll notice by the second coat, you won't be able to see the colors of the Thickers any more:

First Coat

Second Coat

I let this sit for about 2 days before I moved on to the next step, which was applying all of the color!  I used Inklingz She Packs a Punch, original Shimmerz Paint in Bubble Gum Blast and Spritz in Ruby for my 3 pink/red colors and Inklingz Blue Lagoon for the blue color. I randomly placed each of the four colors over the letters, making sure the colors didn't run too much together. I let the color puddle in places when the water was added so it would accent the individual letters.

With the papers and embellishments I had picked out for this layout, there were gold/yellow tones in it that I wanted to incorporate as well, but I only wanted to use it as an accent color.  So to highlight the few "X" 's, I used the Texturez in Gold Mine.  Here is a close up when the paint was completely dry:

I absolutely LOVE this!

When everything was finally dry, I used one of my favorite photos of my hubby and I when we were on a plane flying to Myrtle Beach to celebrate our 12th Anniversary. He rarely takes pictures with me, so this one was definately making onto a layout!  I also pulled out an older Valentines collection that I had cardstock stickers and pocket page cards for and used some of that up as well!  I just love bringing together my older paper collections with my newer paints and mists in trendy colors for a fresh, new look!
