Getting Inky With Newton's Nook!

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a project to share and I have to say that my Design Team over at My Style Stamps completely inspired me for this project!  We've had some watercoloring going on and on top of that, two of the ladies were chosen for the Newton's Nook Design Team! So, I thought I'd combine the two together and take on the current challenge over at Newton's Nook, which you can find all the details HERE!

The challenge is a "Thank You" theme and I was inspired by their free digi image! I thought I'd run thru a quick process of what I did for this project...here it goes!!!!

I printed off the free digi off their website and used my Art Masking Fluid to paint over the entire design.  I want to watercolor this piece, but the ink printed from our printers will react when water hits it.  This fluid, once dry, is a gummy material that reminds me a lot of rubber cement. When it dries, it protects everything under it so water and anything else, such as ink, does come in contact with it.

Next, I took my 3 distress ink pads and smushed them to my craft sheet. Misted them with water. Then placed my watercolor piece into the colored water droplets until I reached an effect I was satisfied with.  I did this in several applications, making sure I dried each layer in between.

After all that ink was dry, I took my finger and rubbed all of the dried gummy fluid off my project, revealing the black image underneath!

I wanted to add a few more pops of color, but didn't want it to completely take away from my project and all the work that went into the water coloring, so I found some coordinating sequins in my stash and sprinkled a few of them on my project.

Lastly, I glued all the sequins in place, then adhered a yellow heart and applied glossy accents for a little more dimension.  I also took my clear wink of stella glitter pen and traced all of the black so that it popped a little more!  And that was it!

Here are a few close ups of my project.

Until next time, have a crafty day!
