Best Friends Layout | Shimmerz Paints

Hello Shimmerz Fans!

Nicole here and today I'm sharing a 12x12 layout using a few pieces of the April Missy Whidden Color Kit!  Today, I'm using Vibez Jeni b Bleu, Shimmerz Bumbly bee and the butterfly cut file from the kit along with Vibez Razzeldazzel Berry and Coloringz Ahoy Matey. Here's a quick look at my completed project:

For the layout, I wanted to use some of Paige Evans products since I was using the butterflies from her cut file.  I found this beautiful butterfly paper, however it was from a 6x6 paper pad. I made it work by cutting the paper on a diagonal and then machine stitching it to a piece of 12x12 white cardstock that I previously had gessoed and colored with the Jeni B Bleu and Ahoy Matey.

Once my pieces were stitched together and dry, I layered my photo along with a few of Paige's die cut flowers. I then created my title by putting "best" directly on the flower and "friends" I put on a piece of coordinating paper then fussy cut it out.  I love the look it creates! It also helps the puffy alpha stickers stand out and sit nicely on top of my photo.

Lastly, I created a cluster of flowers, a camera and one of the butterflies from the cut file that I colored using the Vibez Razzeldazzel Berry and Shimmerz Bumbly Bee, in the top right corner to balance my layout.

Here's one more look at the final layout:

Layout Using the NEW April Missy Whidden Kit | Shimmerz Paints

Hello Shimmerz Fans!

Happy Friday to everyone!  I'm so excited to share with you a look at the NEW April edition of The Missy Whidden Kit from Shimmerz Paints!  This months kit features a beautiful butterfly cut file designed by Paige Evans, a package of the new Shimmerz Dotz and four Shimmerz paints: Vibez Jeni B Blue, Creameez 1 Hot Mama, Inklingz Honey Do List and Shimmerz Bumbly Bee. This kit is honestly the perfect start to all of your spring projects!  Here's a quick look at my layout that I created using items from this kit:

I really wanted the butterfly's to be my focus of this layout, so once I knew how and where I wanted them, the rest fell together fairly quickly. I cut the file twice so I could put one on the bottom right and another on the top left. I backed a lot of the larger butterflies with papers from a 6x6 paper stack from Paige's Turn the Page line. While the glue was drying, I used Jenni B Blue and Inklingz Hone Do List to create colored areas on my background that would be under the butterfly's.  Once everything was dry, I added my butterflies, photo, title and a lot of rub ons and called it done! Here are a few close ups of my final layout:

"Darling, Hooray" Layout | Shimmerz Paints

Hello Shimmerz fans!
Nicole here and today, I have a colorful layout to share with you!
I've been loving the Pinkfresh Studio Indigo Hills 2 collection lately, especially the puffy stickers. In fact, those are what inspired me to create today's layout.  Here's a look at my final layout:

This layout was so stinkin' easy to watercolor! I painted a bunch of individual leaves very loosely that I outlined with a silver gel pen. I used Inklingz in Can't Elope, Oakie Bear Blue and Precious Posey and Vibez Sunset Strip.

Once it was all dry, I fussy cut each individual leaf and laid them out on my 12x12 white cardstock that I lightly brushed with Spritz Granny Grey and white paint splatters.
When I had an arrangement that I liked, I glued only half of the leaf down and bending the other half upwards so it added dimension to my page.  Once everything was glued into place, I added in bits of ephemera and puffy stickers to my project.  Here's a few close ups of my final project:

Here's a list of the Shimmerz products used in today's layout:

Happy Thoughts Layout | Shimmerz Paints

Hello Shimmerz Fans!

Nicole here and today I have the pleasure of featuring a cut file designed by Paige Evans! This cut file is exclusive to Shimmerz Paints and is available in the Missy kit this month. For today's project, I paired this cut file with Paige's Whimsical collection.
Here's a quick look at my final project:

I began by cutting the beautiful floral heart with my Silhouette and my initial intention was to use it as a stencil with my Shimmerz Dazzlerz. Turned out, I loved the cut out piece more, so I used it instead! I mixed together Dazzlerz in Grapetastic and Paste-eez in Yell-O It's Me to get this perfect shade of purple and Paste-eez Peach Fuzz and Dazzlerz Spun Sugar in other areas.

I went thru the floral ephemera, rub-on's and other pieces I had from Whimsical and pulled out everything that was rose gold, purple and peach. This turned out to be a soft and gorgeous color combination! I layered lots of leaves and floral's around my photos and added my "happy thoughts" title sticker from Pinkfresh Studio. I added in strips of papers with matching color splatters on the right of my page and tucked in a few more pieces.  I finished it by adding splatters of Inklingz Miner, Miner 49er and Coloringz Peachy Keen mixed together (which is a BEAUTIFUL rose gold looking shimmer!!!) and my journaling and called it done! Here are a few close ups of my final layout:

Love This 12x12 Layout | Shimmerz Paints & Cocoa Vanilla Studio

Hi Shimmerz Fans!

Nicole here today with a fun, colorful, easy layout to share with you!
Today's project was inspired by the tiny floral die cuts in the Cocoa Vanilla Midnight collection. I loved them so much that I had to paint larger versions! Here's a quick look at my final project:

I began by prepping my page with white gesso. I coated most of the page because I wasn't sure how many flowers I was going to paint. I eventually ended up just paining a row of them along half of the page. I used Creameez Cheeky Pink and Berry Hot and Coloringz Pink Stilettos and Ahoy Matey to create them.  I really didn't put a whole lot of thought into it. I just made sure some areas of the flowers were lighter than others or combined two colors.  When my colors were dry, this is where the thought came into play.  I grabbed a black fine line sharpie and sketched what I thought was my best representation of the floral ephemera. The lines were on the darker side and some of them were even a little lopsided, so I decided to go back in with a black gel pen that had a thinner line thickness and go over it again. This time, I tried to keep the line in the same general area as the first, but not exact. Once the flowers were drawn, I did add a few splatters so the background wasn't so stark white.

After all of my paint was dry, I set my photo in the general area that I was thinking of placing it, which is actually where it ended up staying! (That doesn't happen all that often for me lol!) I then strategically placed all of the floral ephemera exactly where I wanted it and popped it up on foam squares. After that, I added in a few other bits of ephemera and a couple clear and puffy stickers.

In the end, it felt like it was missing something along the right and top sides. There was just so much white space that it bothered me, even though it was the look I was going for. I decided to use the same three colors of Shimmerz and paint a piece of scrap cardstock to create my own watercolored boarder that matched the rest of the layout. I adhered that along those edges and called this layout done! It really came together quite quickly! Here are a few close ups of my final project:

Here is the list of Shimmerz that I used for this layout:

Don't Get Your Tinsel In A Tangle | Scrapaholics Chipboard

Hi everyone!

Happy hump day! Today I'm featuring an amazing chipboard piece from Scrapaholics Chipbard!

Yes, I'm doing a holiday travelers notebook layout, but I had the perfect pictures for this piece and I couldn't resist! Better late than never I guess, right?! Here's a look at my final spread:

For the left page of my spread, I kept it very photo heavy because I wanted the right side to be primarily simple so it could feature this beautiful "Don't Get Your Tinsel In A Tangle" chipboard. Seriously, this phrase fit my photo perfectly! My so was so frustrated trying to get his arms around a pencil tree and he was determined to make it work...and he did!

For the chipboard, I coated it with a layer of white gesso and let it completely dry.  Once dry, I added two layers of Shimmerz Paints Spritz in Ruby and Spritz in Caribbean Sunset, making sure the first layer was completely dry before adding the second.  I let this sit overnight so it would dry and not be tacky.  Here are a few close ups of the final spread:
